Hello and Welcome to
Doug Compton's home page!

If you are here you are obviously looking at my resumé, and considering me for a position with your buisiness. In the area in which we live it is not uncommon to receive hundreds of applicants for a single job. I created this website as a means of setting myself apart from the rest of the crowd. My biggest selling point for a prospective employer, at least in my opinion, would be my willingness and aptitude for learning new skills.

The first, and most concrete example would be this web page. Less than three months ago, I had absolutely no idea how to make anything even this uncomplicated. I researched the subject over the internet and in a week was publishing my own web pages. (The most successful one I wrote for my church, and is found on the contents at right.) All the content I have published, with the exception of some of the pretty graphics, is completely original, and written with nothing more than my PC and notepad. I simply wanted to do it, so I figured out how.

This doesn't just hold true with my intrests, while at my present job I have gotten every form of mandatory, as well as volentary, certificatons that I have been eligible for. They can also be found to the right. I have also learned how to deal with the public, how to organize events, how to work with computer systems that no one understands, how to manage employees, as well as how to do accounting and office work.

Prior to that I worked for the U.S. Air Force, as a mechanic. While in training I graduated with a 94% average on all written and working tests. This made me eligible for "Honor Graduate" status. That is a standard that only 5% of those in my particular job could meet.

My time at Thompson Petroleum Services instilled in me the understanding, that I can do most anything I put my mind to. Nearly everything I did there I had no idea how to do before I started. Yet I learned how, because it needed to be done, and there was no one to turn to other than myself.

I have always worked hard, have exemplary attendance, posess a wide range of skills, and have displayed an exceptional ability to learn new skills. For all these reasons and more, I am the right man for the job. My name is Doug Compton and I look forward to working with you!
